Mapungubwe is part of the Transfrontier Conservation Area which stretches from South Africa across its northern border to Botswana and Zimbabwe. Mapungubwe Cultural Landscape was declared one of South Africa's World Heritage Sites based on its rich cultural heritage, as well as for its outstanding natural landscape and environment.
