Print info
Glossy: Coated paper with a very smooth, shiny reflective surface. Glossy finishes have a high-contrast appearance and look slick to the touch when not under glass. This finish has an excellent dynamic range and color - slightly more "pop" than the matte paper, though less noticeable once framed. Photos will have a shiny finish, colors will be vibrant, and images will be crisp and sharp.
Matte: Matte paper has a very smooth, non-glare surface. Matte finishes have a lower-contrast when printed and are often used to enhance the texture of a print. Matte prints are fingerprint and smudge resistant, and work very well with Black & White photos. Much less glare than glossy.
Lustre: Lustre is a professional-grade paper with a slight gloss and a subtle, often pearl-like texture. Lustre paper has deeper color-saturation and higher contrast than matte and is materially 'thicker,' or heavier, than consumer paper.
Gicleé: Gicleé prints are crested with the highest quality inks and papers. Used as a standard in the fine art world for reproduction of fine paintings and photographs, the process allows for a greater depth and subtlety in color representation. Images can be printed on a variety of artistic surfaces including metallic, canvas, smooth fine art or luster
Metallic: Images printed with the MetalPrints process will last for generations when displayed indoors and out of direct sunlight. Like any fine art print, MetalPrints should not be exposed to direct sunlight or high outdoor temperatures. The archival value of a print should be judged not only by its resistance to degradation by U.V. light and ozone exposure, but also to moisture and surface damage. MetalPrints have an additional benefit over gicleé or photographic processes in that they are waterproof and have an ultra-hard scratch resistant coating.
