Winter in North Dakota can be harsh. At the same time, it has its beauty and can be very picturesque. These photos were taken during a two-week period in mid January 2009 when the temperature fell to -40 and there were 4 blizzards during that period of time. It was an abnormally harsh winter.
These photos were taken in and around the farming town of Max, located in the west central part of the state.
